Board Meeting  March 17, 2009

Welcome by Rene Gorbold:  Rene shared with us God’s calling to her and her husband to serve in campus ministry.  Rene shared the recent mission trip with students to Bartlesville, OK.She emphasized their mission on campus is to get kids ready to be the next leaders in our churches. She is very thankful for our annual ‘shower’ which helps them with needed supplies.

Reports:

Communications – Sharon    Mailings have been sent for Spring Spiritual Feast and OASIS. Another mailing will go out next week for retreat, conference, and Marks of an Active ABW.  We are in need of someone to come on the board as Communications/Secretary.

President – Lois   Break the Chains coming along well, still need money to complete our goal. Lois shared business from the region ABWM board.

Treasurer – Patty  Present balance is $4088.46 which does not include checks written at this meeting.  In and Out: Vital Partners - $120, Endowment $50, Special Project - $636.50, Outfit/Refit - $140, Student Aid - $521.30, National Support $260, Region ABW - $321.50.  Received for Area 1 general fund this since August $928.50

White Cross – Marlene   Please have reports in by May 20 so she can complete her final 2008-2009 report.  At region Retreat White Cross workshop we will put together packets for the Karens.  Each will include: a new washcloth, toothbrush, tooth paste, small bar of soap, and lip balm (chapstick.)  Please bring unassembled so they can be put together at the workshop.

OASIS – Marlene and Sharon   March 27-28.  We now have 38 people registered. Next year be sure to put on flyer, “Make checks payable to Area 1 ABWM.” Lunch will be provided by the Cambridge ladies.  Board provides breakfast.

World Mission Support/Member at Large – Hilda 

Program – Carol   Mailing has been made to host churches, Geneva and Alpha.

She will send outline of program to Lois.  Spring Spiritual Feasts: Mill Creek on April 4 and Alpha on April 18. Program – Missions in Costa Rica and Nicaragua

Personal Development/Student Aid – Susan   Nothing to report.  Note Student Aid contributions in treasurer report.

Special Project – see amount received in treasurer report.

Nominating Committee – Our new member for Personal Development and Student Aid is Willie Newenham from First Baptist Church of Moline. We still need to fill the position of Communications/Secretary.
