Fall Rally
First Baptist Church Greenfield, October 20, 2009
President Barbara Dorsey opened the morning session by reading the Program Theme scripture Psalm 138:8. She commented we have a new purpose praising God and worshipping Him. God has planned our destiny.
The hymn ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ was led by Lois Vinyard and played by pianist Debbie Powell.
The welcome was given by Rev. George Rosales and Local ABW President Ann George.
Devotions by June Moore entitled, ‘A Pumpkinhead’. We can be likened to a pumpkin because God chose us, washed us off and removed the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. He gives us a new smiling face and puts His light inside for all the world to see. Prayer by June.
Barbara introduced 3 of 5 Regional Officers from Area II. Laura Winch- Secretary, Stephany Smith -White Cross and Barbara McKean –Communications. Judy Allison-Church & Community and Marsha Wimmer-Co-Coordinator of Conference were unable to attend.
Barbara called the Business Session to order.
Officer Reports:
The minutes of the May 19, 2009 Spring Rally were approved as presented. The Roll Call was answered by 33 in attendance, including 4 guests, representing 11 churches.
Treasurer’s Report - Fran Greenfield placed the Financial Report in the Church folders. As of October 17, 2009 receipts of $973.39 and disbursements of $1012.17 left a balance on hand of $2797.93. Motion to accept the treasurer’s report by Laura Winch and second by Betty Houston. Motion passed.
Love Gift & Special Project – Barbara McKean stated the Special Project for 2009-2010 is to raise $15,000 for Kodiak Baptist Mission to help them purchase a “gently used” van. She included promotion material for Kodiak and a ‘Happy Holidays Challenge” for Love Gift in the folders. Hilda Smith is available as a Program Speaker for Kodiak Baptist Mission. Communications – Barbara McKean reported she had e-mailed Ripples to every church. The Leaders Reader and ABGirls e-newsletter are available on the abwministries.org website. The National ABW Ministries has launched the 60th Anniversary Endowment Fund Campaign, June 2009-July2010, with a goal of $250,000.
Church & Community – Carol Matheson was unable to attend but sent information about The Penny Project and the need for photos and information from Area II Women to be used in a display at the Area II Annual Meeting March 14, 2010.
Personal Development – June Moore included a letter and two devotionals in the folders. She also read an e-mail from Wendy Bernhard, a missionary in Africa.
Student Aid – Betty Houston placed in the folders ideas for generating Scholarship Fund contributions and guidelines for the Scholarships. Megan Redden is the student assigned to Area II this year.
White Cross – Sheila Fite reported 17 of the 22 churches she sent quotas have returned their acceptance slips.
Missions & Service – Stephany Smith included in folders, “Answers to Your Questions about IM Missionaries Seeking Targeted Support”. This explains about the work of the Missionary Partnership Network and the Missionary Partnership Team. These teams help raise at least 68% of the missionary’s need. The other 32% is primarily funded through the World Mission Offering. All missionaries reached their funding goal by Sept. 30th. Individuals may direct support to a particular missionary through the Region office.
Rallies – Deanna Williams directed our attention to the dates for upcoming Rallies. (See list on next page).
President – Barbara Dorsey placed a letter in the folders. She called attention to available newsletters, phone numbers and websites in the letter.
Old Business – Office of Member-At-Large is still not filled.
New Business – ABW Ministries will have a display at the Area II Annual Meeting March 14, 2010 at Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. Send pictures and activity information to Carol Matheson clm45@springnet1.com.
The Nominating Committee – Betty Houston and June Moore are looking for women to serve as Treasurer, Love Gift/Special Project, Mission & Service, Rally and Member-At-Large.
Barbara closed the Business Session.
The General Offering was taken. Offering total was $83.00.
Barbara introduced the speaker Mary Knowlton. Mary is the Fund Development Director for Kids Hope United organized in 2004, formerly Hudelson Baptist Children’s Home. There are locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Florida. Illinois and Missouri combined have 10 locations in 44 counties serving 2500 children. Kids Hope United serves children and parents through Prevention Services, Counseling, Family Preservation Services, Youth Services and Placement Services. Lunch – June Moore gave the table blessing. Offering containers for Love Gift, Student Aid and Special Project were on the tables.
Afternoon Session began by singing ‘Trust and Obey’. Special music ‘He Touched Me’ was sung by Lois Vinyard.
Love Gift Dedication, ‘A Mirror of God’s Love’ and prayer was given by Barbara McKean. She also dedicated the other offerings. Amounts were: Love Gift-$40, Student Aid-$34 and Special Project-$32.
Spotlight on Churches – Betty Houston told about their church’s ‘Faith in Action’ Sunday. The Assembly of God Church partnered with First Baptist Church this year to participate in projects all over Jacksonville. Every person made a difference from the young children to the adults. Their slogan was, ‘Don’t just go to church, be the church’.
General Announcements – White Hall is rehabbing an old skating rink into a Youth Center. Winchester First Baptist will be giving out school supplies on Halloween. Spring Rally May 18, 2010 at Central Baptist Church, Quincy, IL. A donation was given for Kids Hope United.
Barbara thanked the speaker Mary Knowlton, the Greenfield ladies for hosting the Rally and Lois Vinyard and Debbie Powell for providing the music.

President Barbara Dorsey called the meeting to order at 10:05.
Virden’s pastor, Diane DeSmidt led us in song.
Helen Burris welcomed us to FBC, Virden.
June Moore gave a devotion based on Prov. 3:5-6, “A Carrot, an Egg, and a Cup of Coffee”. Each faced the same adversity, boiling water. The carrot started out hard and ended soft. The egg was fragile and became hard. The coffee beans changed the hot water. If you are like coffee beans, you change the circumstances around you. June led us in prayer.
Barb introduced the GRR officers present, Judy Allison - Church and Community and Laura Winch – Secretary.
Secretary’s Report – Laura Winch presented the minutes of the Fall Rally Oct.20, 2008. They were accepted as printed. Laura requested that local groups send in new officer forms ASAP so she can update records before turning them over to the new secretary. Then she took roll. See break down at the end of minutes.
Treasurer’s Report – Fran Greenfield went over where to send various offerings and reminded us that our fiscal year runs June 30th through June 30th. Fran presented the proposed budget from the finance committee – Fran Greenfield, Betty Houston, and Laura Winch. Budget was approved. The treasurer’s report was given. See below. Treasurer’s Report will be filed for audit. There are copies of the report and the proposed budget in your folders. White Cross - Janet Lebegue reported 18 of the 22 churches that accepted White Cross quotas have sent in their reports. Reports need to be in by the end of next week.
Student Aid - Betty Houston thanked everyone for the monitary support. She encouraged us to keep in touch with our student aid recipients.

We still need a Member-at-Large. There were no nominations from the floor. The slate was accepted as presented.
The GRR Retreat is June 5-7 at Lake Williamson. Area II’s resposiblities are Saturday morning scripture and prayer and transportation. Barb Dorsey will do the scripture and prayer. Carol Matheson will help with transportation. We will need 2-3 more.

We took our General Offering and prayed.
Program by Faith Heikes and Marge Wilcoxen on Habitat houses built in the MS Gulf Coast area. Feb 2007, GRR sent a group that worked on 7 houses. This was a partnership between National and Habitat for Humanity. Over 80 volunteers from GRR participated. To qualify for a Habitat home you must show need, contribute sweat equity, have good credit, have a job, and receive counseling. The need is still great in Gulf Coast region. Contact regional office if you are interested.
These are box houses. Pieces arrive at the site all numbered. The supervisor has the map. Their first job was putting on hurricane straps. Houses are built on a slab which was there when teams arrived. The end of the first morning, all of the outside and most of the inside walls were done.
Fran Greenfield announced that GRR is taking a work group to Herrin, IL for storm cleanup. There are 130 sites.
John Grisham - John shared that there was a work day at LSBC last Saturday. About 100 people participated. This Sat will be a repeat. They will provide lunch if they know you are coming. He mentioned the upcoming Bienniel in June and told us a bit about Harry and Bess’s Marvelous Adventure.
Diane DeSmidt led us in song and prayer.

Love Gift Dedication - We took an offering for our special project. Barb McKean did a dedication of Love Gift & Special Project offerings. “A Drop in the Bucket” It depends on what is already in the bucket. The following offerings were taken.

Spotlight on White Hall FBC – FBC is part of a group of churches participating in “Helping Hands”, an organization that provides lunches for kids during the summer. They also participated in “the bunk bed project”. Beds were donated by a group that collects them from colleges when they get new ones and hotels when they remodel or go out of business. They also collected used household items in good condition; sheets, towels, plates, and more. They set up at a local church. Flyers were sent home with students from their schools. People were told to take what they needed but to be mindful of others needs. The event was a huge success. Bev said that next time they may have to buy household items. Another project grew out of the lunch program. “Morning for Moms” and “Day for Dads” will teach parents to make tasty, wholesome, cheap meals.
A skit was presented “Pushing Myself to the Edge/Sent for God’s Purpose” promoting women’s retreat in June.

Installation of Officers – Judy Allison did the installation service, “Stepping Out in Faith”. The wheelchair symbolized being paralyzed with fear. The ladder stood for taking things one step at a time. We have to take the first step. Judy concluded with prayer.
Wilma Webb closed us with prayer at 2:00p.m.

Area II Spring Board Meeting 2009
President Barbara Dorsey brought the meeting to order at 10: a.m.
June Moore gave a devotion on “The Daffodil Principle”. Answers to the questions I know you are going to ask. Move to our goal one step at a time. Stop waiting until ______. You fill in the blank.
Minutes of the 2008 Fall Board were approved as printed. Attendance sheet was passed.
Treasurer’s Report – Fran Greenfield passed out copies of her report as of April 17th, 2009. See summary below. Fran moved that we accept the treasurer’s report as printed. Second by Laura Winch. Motion passed. If you have any questions you may contact her at: ronfrang@sbcglobal.net. The finance committee, made up of Fran, Betty Houston, and Laura Winch, presented their proposed budget for 2009-2010. One change was made. The $5.00 budgeted for the treasurer was restored. To balance the budget, $5.00 was taken off miscellaneous. Barb Dorsey moved we accept the budget as corrected. Second by Betty Houston. Motion passed.

Love Gift & Special Project – Barb McKean. There is up to date information on Love Gift from national on line. For our Special Project, Break the Chains, Area II has sent in $10,127.90. Our national goal is $250,000. To date, $279,827.96 has been received. ABW National and Love Gift National are now on “Face Book”. Go to ABW Ministries.org to see update E-Newsletter.
Personal Development – June Moore told us “Wash your hands and say your prayers, God and germs are everywhere.”
Student Aid – Betty Houston said they are taking applications until May 1st. GRR will be assigned a student from our area.
Church & Community – Bev Moulton told about a local mission, helping people in need of beds, mattresses, dressers, towels, plates and more. The beds were donated by a group that collects them from hotels when they remodel or go out of business.. We need to take 15 minutes at Rally and spotlight what one church is doing in their community.
Missions & Service – Stephanie Smith. Stephanie was absent. Barb Dorsey reported that each area will be assigned missionaries. MPT (Missionary Partner Team) is necessary for a missionary to stay in the field. Missions Conference is Friday and Saturday, April 24 & 25 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. Cost is $20
White Cross – Janet Lebegue said that 22 churches accepted White Cross quotas. 8 churches have sent in their report.
Member-at Large – Carol Matheson has been out of town. She has a new granddaughter that was born prematurely. She is home now.
Rally – Deanna Williams. Our Spring Rally will be May 19th at FBC Virden. Faith Heikes will be our speaker on Habitat houses.
President’s Report - Barb Dorsey. We will be responsible for transportation at GRR Retreat at Lake Williamson in June. Carol Matheson volunteered. We need one more. We will also be responsible for prayer and scripture Saturday morning. New White Cross video is available from Judson. You pay only postage. Our new theme for 2009 – 2011 will be Women Destined for God’s Purpose. There will be 4 separate publications for this 2 year theme. Our new GRR Special Project is Kodiak, Alaska. They are in need of a used van to transport kids. Baptist Women’s day of Prayer is 1st Monday in Nov.

After discussion on changing the timing of our meetings, we worked on our 2010 calendar. Someone will contact FBC, Quincy about hosting the 2010 Spring Rally. National Conference will be in Columbus Ohio in 2010.
