My journey in the ministry has allowed me to draw the threads of my experiences together, and to intertwine the love of Christ and the Scriptural mandate to love God and my neighbor, into a visual design of faithful Discipleship. While I cannot say that these experiences have all been full of joy, they have taught me to be alert and sensitive to cultural context. I can affirm that God’s transforming power has sustained a passion and willingness in my spirit to work with all God’s people towards a Church and a world that can celebrate and rejoice in diversity.

Muriel was born in Biloxi, Mississippi (1955) and raised in the projects of Ocean Hill Brownsville in Brooklyn, New York. Muriel brings maturity, energy, and a deep commitment to American Baptist life. Most of all, she exudes a deep spirituality and a powerful dream for congregations.

Rev. Johnson has served churches as the Associate Minister, Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Madison, Wisconsin), Seminary Intern (St. James Neighborhood House), Associate Minister (Antioch Baptist Church), and Minister of Christian Education (Antioch Baptist Church).
