Envisioning healthy congregations
engaged in effective
Christian Ministry
locally AND globally.

In the video below, Max Klinkenborg, asks Randy to share with us some of his faith journey.
Why am I an American Baptist? I have a lot of church history that has gone into making me the person that I am. I went to an American Baptist Church as a youngster growing up in southern Indiana. My aunt and uncle stopped by every Sunday and picked me up for Sunday School and church. My grandmother made sure that I was at Vacation Bible School each summer. So my earliest church memories are of being ABC.
My wife’s family was United Methodist—her father being a UM pastor. With ministry being a third career for me my father-in-law became instrumental in the formulation of my adult Christian outlook on life.
We certainly are not a perfect denomination. We certainly have diverse views on just about any topic anyone would want to discuss. The thing that makes me so very excited to be an American Baptist is our togetherness when it comes to missions. We may differ on other subjects but we unite when it comes to the cause of spreading Word of Jesus Christ to the utter most parts of the world. Missions would be the glue that holds this “family” together. That would be something we would not want to forget!
