Converting Documents to PDF: Available Software

Looking for low cost program that will create PDFs?

Adobe's Acrobat | BullZip | DeskPDF | FlashPaper | PDF995 | PDF Converter | PDF Factory | PrimoPDF | PDF Producer

Adobe's web site currently lists their full basic program - which is very much worthy of investigation - at $299 ($99 for upgrade). Their full program is listed at $449 ($149 for upgrade). With these prices, a market has been generated for alternatives.

Here are some ideas.

Now that Adobe is releasing the standard for open development, you may see more offerings at more reasonable prices. Do an internet search on "pdf creation" or "creating pdfs."

Be careful. There are two types of conversion:

  1. Convert files from MS Word, Word Perfect, Excel, etc to PDF.
  2. Convert PDF files (not made from scans) to MS Word

If you are looking for a way to turn your documents into PDF, make sure the software you are researching converts documents TO pdf.
