Composing, Posting, and Maintaining Web Site
2 types are necessary for creating and maintaining web site.
1. Composing the web page(s) with text, images, etc.
2. Uploading (also called "ftp client, for posting the file(s) to your web hosting service's computers)
4 sources of the necessary software.
1. Software provided by your web hosting service. Use it online. Many web hosting companies (where you send your web files so they can be accessible to people using the web) now offer WordPress. This is a free program that is much more than a blogging program. It can be used to put together some beautiful and user-friendly sites. There are books available and many articles on line that will help one use it.
2. Software your computer already has as part of the Operating System. Look for it.
3. Freeware (free) and shareware (low cost or voluntary contribution - honor these) available through download.
4. Major publisher's software available at "brick and mortar" or online stores.
