Uploading Your Video to Your Web Site

For people using your web site to be able to view your work of art, three steps must be taken.

1. Upload the video to your web host.

Once you have the file in the streaming format for your site, it is time to upload it from your computer to the web server (= hosting computer(s) so it can be accessed on line.

2. Either embed the video into one of your web pages or put a description of the video and a link to it.

Errors in coding or failure to upload all files is the point where most video is prevented from being seen. Make sure that all files necessary to play the video - especially Flash FLV are uploaded.

Also. make sure that all links are correct. Many times the video will not play on the web site because the necessary files cannot be found by the user's web browser. That is, the code has told the browser to look where the files aren't.

3. Save and upload the web page that has the embed or the link.

Now the video is ready for the world to see. Listen for calls from Hollywood producers!?

But wait, after you have done these three steps, test your page with your video in it.

Your web software will likely have an ability (a sub-program) in it that allows you to upload your web pages directly from it to the web.

A stand-alone program such as Filezilla (download the "client" file) is a great addition to your computing tool box. It is free and can give you the ability to upload and download files more directly than through your web editing software.
